At Code on Wheels, we believe technology can be a powerful tool for young people to explore their interests, express their creativity, and shape their futures. Our work is made possible by the students who show up ready to learn, the families who encourage them, the community partners who open their doors, the funders who invest in our mission, and the team members who bring each program to life.
Now, we are creating a new way to share more of that work with you.
Welcome to the Code on Wheels blog!
This blog will be a space where our team can tell the stories behind our programs and provide a closer look at what it takes to bring technology education into our communities. Every other week, a different member of our team will contribute a post, allowing you to hear directly from the people doing the work.
You can expect us to write about many different parts of Code on Wheels. We will introduce you to the community partners who help us reach students and explore how those collaborations take shape. We will share updates about our programs, the teaching techniques our instructors use, and what we are learning from our students. We will also talk about our team, the funding that supports our work, the challenges we encounter, and the ideas guiding our growth.
Some posts may take you inside one of our classrooms. Others may highlight a partnership, explain how we develop a new curriculum, or reflect on what our team learned while delivering a program. We also want to share some of the work that happens behind the scenes—the planning, conversations, decisions, and community support that make each learning experience possible.
Most importantly, this blog will give every member of our team an opportunity to share their perspective. Our instructors, program staff, organizational leaders, and other team members each experience our mission differently. By rotating authors, we hope to create a more complete and honest picture of who we are, what we do, and why this work matters to us.
As the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Code on Wheels, I am excited to write the first post and open the door to this new chapter. Since our organization began, we have continued to learn from our students, partners, team members, and supporters. We have seen how much can happen when young people are given the equipment, instruction, encouragement, and space they need to explore technology.
We have also learned that the story of our work is bigger than any single class, workshop, or event. It is a story about collaboration, access, creativity, and the people who believe in what our students can accomplish. This blog will help us share that story more fully.
New posts will be published every other week on our website and shared across our social media platforms. We hope you will follow along, get to know our team, learn more about our work, and celebrate the students and partners who make Code on Wheels possible.
We are excited to begin—and even more excited to share the journey with you.
Luis Perez
